History: Roman named. Latin it means Octo-meaning 8 --> 8th Month of the Year. Later though February and January were added to the calendar and bumped October to the 10th month.

October Birthstone(s): This is interesting October actually has 2 birthstones!!! Maybe I live under a rock (no pun intended haha), but I didn't know that the Opal and the Tourmaline are stones of October.
